Our three toddlers are about as Frozen obsessed as you can get. They have been dressing up as Frozen characters since the girls went as Elsa and Anna to the fairytale ball last year, they love to choose Frozen for our family movie night and they love to read any Frozen book they can get their hands on. It’s also a favorite setting for their pretend play as they run about the house freezing each other, escaping from “Marshmellow,” or helping each other as sisters.

So with the new movie coming out they’ve been enjoying watching trailer clips and listening to the new song clips that have been released. After Thanksgiving we’re planning to see it with friends in theaters (our very first time in a movie theater)! In an effort to get them to play with more of their toys this week I’m setting up a Frozen themed sensory activity.

If you can’t beat them, join them,” right?

We started with lots of water beads in Elsa/winter themed colors, added a few of their favorite frozen characters, snowflake erasers, and for some extra fun some fake glowing ice!

If you haven’t tried water beads yet they are fantastic sensory toys! They are small and don’t get clothes or kids messy, but still allow them to experience that slimey, squishy, stress-relieving, messy play that benefits them in so many different ways. It takes a few hours for them to grow, but that in itself can be a fun experiment for the kids to watch. Non-toxic (though keep a close eye on mouthers) and reusable – you can dry them out to store and just regrow them – they are very multi-purpose.

They’ve been really intrigued by it and it’s kept their attention for long periods of time – even motivating them to take off the dress up for a bit so they could play!
