  • Putting Your Money Where Your Mouth Is

There are so many voices out there that we can learn from when it comes to discussing racism and dealing with biases both on our own and with our children and I have no plan to take away from them by adding mine, but I do think that every parent no matter your race needs to start with normalizing diversity at home.   Kids need to see themselves in their print, in movies, tv, in their role models, but they also need to see “others” so that they do not remain “others” – it is so important that we learn from each other! Starting with normalization of every culture & race…

  • Mom/Baby Work Outs!

Calling all my Mama’s with New Year’s Resolutions to get in shape or spend more time playing with your kids! Here is a little piece I wrote a while ago about all the ways I get my work out in while entertaining three babies:   There aren’t many things I do that don’t involve my kids – at least when they are awake, and I’ve got enough other things to do when they are sleeping – so I don’t always get a chance to work out or go for a run like I did in my pre-baby days. Hubby and I used to enjoy the Couch to 5k app or…

  • Our Christmas List Year 2

We’re officially entering our second Christmas with three toddlers as opposed to three babies now and all I can says is WHOA. Their play skills have changed so much over the past year, but that’s okay because we like to choose toys that can keep up! Here’s our list of favorites that we’re looking forward to playing with for the next few years to come. Of course everything Frozen or Disney is big right now as we’ve been enjoying acting out the story of a few of our family movie nights. Mostly the kids like to listen to the soundtracks and somehow the Frozen 2 teasers got into the mix…

  • What To Put in The Hospital Bag?

Getting ready to head to the hospital? Check out my hosptial bag tips below! In honor of my friend giving birth any day now I’m sharing my top ten suggestions for what to pack for the hospital – whether you are a first time mom or going for the second time around and need some refreshers you won’t want to forget these. 1. A robe. This is on everyones list for a reason – just bring it and you’ll be glad you did. 2. Comfy, loose fitting (pj) pants. I originally thought skirts/dresses would be great and had brought a nightgown thinking I’d be more comfortable, but let me tell…

  • Easter

I feel like Easter is always the holiday that sneaks up on me! As always it is quickly upon us and we worked hard this year to create Easter baskets that don’t over do it on the sugar (or the gifts)! We decided this year to keep all the kids the same as opposed to last year when they basically got individual presents. So today each kid got: A personalized name book A pull tube A pair of play glasses Gardening Gloves A fishing set A playdoh egg A mini chocolate bunny (it is Easter after all) The healthiest fruit snacks i could find Elmo Cookies Chalk Eggs and an…

  • Enjoying A Vacation With Kids

“Is it really a vacation though?” I have heard this so many times – taking your kids on vacation can be just as (if not more) exhausting than being at home with them if you let it, but we have learned our own ways to ENJOY time as a family. Many people would hesitate to bring kids that are still napping but for us it works! We actually get a little time for R&R and alternate our adventures. For example today the hubs is out having a drink and taking a chance to explore and do some photography while I rest up (and work) with the kids! Tomorrow I’ll do…

  • Ready To Travel

Recently one of our EI specialists asked me how I manage to do the things that I do with three toddlers in tow, working with so many families who feel they can barely leave the house with one. And honestly I kind of laughed because having three has made me more organized than I ever was in my entire life. It’s also made me realize that I just have to leave the house with all three in order to do basics like survive. I was never this organized in my “old life” I was the girl up until 3 am before the trip trying to pack, remembering those last minute…

  • Our Christmas List

So for three kids under two and with my background in play therapy you can bet we’ve tried just about every toy on the block! Here is our christmas list for this year although the kids won’t get everything (or many of the things) on this list we made it as a wish/reminder list. I mostly thought I’d share it for those of you stuck on what to get your kids or the kids on your list this year! For those of you looking for a “friend” most of these are good for/ geared toward about 15 months – 4 years as they have lots of potential for growth and…

  • Holiday Traditions

I’m sure everyone has their own little holiday traditions and things that they do to make it a special time for the kids, but for us it doesn’t even begin to feel like the holidays until we go get our tree! We always struggled as a couple trying to switch off Christmas Eve between the in-laws until we had kids. It’s just not fun trying to spread yourselves so far that you don’t really have time to enjoy any of it. Then when we did have kids driving the five hours or so at like midnight with the babies just seems like a cruel joke on Christmas! So we finally…

  • Laundry Secrets

As we start to get ready for our first thanksgiving with three babies, I’m pulling out all the stops. We’ve got turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes the list goes on and on.  We’ve got more family than I can count coming over, turkey napkin rings and of course a lovely turkey candle for the table (thanks mom!) so I’ve been thinking back to our last thanksgiving and how much the babies have grown since then and how much our lives have changed. As I brought out the napkins and placemats though I’m astonished by one thing. I can’t tell which one we poured a whole bottle of red wine on last…
