  • Orlando

We’ve finally arrived! And now that we’re here I’ve been solo with the kids for a few days while Hubby works. We are saving the big exciting splurge Orlando stuff (like Disney parks) for when he’s done so I’ve been trying to keep the toddlers entertained without going into serious debt. While I was a little worried about being on my own, it’s actually been really nice exploring with them – and Grandma is coming down soon for some pool time too! Though we have a great pool where we are staying, I for one am not brave enough to take three 2 year olds swimming by myself. So here’s…

  • Road Tripping: Pediatrician Approved

We made it safely down to Florida (with only one set of teeth marks in someone’s arm) after our long drive! It was actually kind of a vacation in itself and while I got mostly love from all the people who have been following our journey I definitely got some “mom judgement” from a few folks about my kids being in car seats so long… Just to clarify we don’t strap them in and drive for 12 hours a day here – we stop every few hours and get plenty of gross motor time running around parks, exploring gardens and museums or just crawling through random grass pretending to be…

  • Enjoying A Vacation With Kids

“Is it really a vacation though?” I have heard this so many times – taking your kids on vacation can be just as (if not more) exhausting than being at home with them if you let it, but we have learned our own ways to ENJOY time as a family. Many people would hesitate to bring kids that are still napping but for us it works! We actually get a little time for R&R and alternate our adventures. For example today the hubs is out having a drink and taking a chance to explore and do some photography while I rest up (and work) with the kids! Tomorrow I’ll do…

  • Ready To Travel

Recently one of our EI specialists asked me how I manage to do the things that I do with three toddlers in tow, working with so many families who feel they can barely leave the house with one. And honestly I kind of laughed because having three has made me more organized than I ever was in my entire life. It’s also made me realize that I just have to leave the house with all three in order to do basics like survive. I was never this organized in my “old life” I was the girl up until 3 am before the trip trying to pack, remembering those last minute…

  • Holiday Traditions

I’m sure everyone has their own little holiday traditions and things that they do to make it a special time for the kids, but for us it doesn’t even begin to feel like the holidays until we go get our tree! We always struggled as a couple trying to switch off Christmas Eve between the in-laws until we had kids. It’s just not fun trying to spread yourselves so far that you don’t really have time to enjoy any of it. Then when we did have kids driving the five hours or so at like midnight with the babies just seems like a cruel joke on Christmas! So we finally…

  • Going Out To Eat With Three Babies

No one wants to be the loudest table in the restaurant and no one wants to be the family that leaves the place trashed (trust me we’ve been there). But we’ve been able to take our kids successfully to some pretty nice restaurants. Below is my strategy of some success – useful for anyone whether dining out with one or three infants.   First things first practice if you can before going somewhere more formal – go to the local pizza joint or whatever restaurant seems the most kid friendly in your area. (If you’re in the Boston region check out Full Moon in Cambridge which actually caters to kids and has…

  • “See The Birdies”

My kids new obsession is “seeing the birdies” aka going out on the front steps to see if there are any birds around. It’s literally the first thing they ask to do the second they see Grandma so I know a lot of it is about the special time they get alone with her (she only takes one at a time) but they also have been really loving birds! So today we are all about birds – we took a little field trip to one of my favorite places to bring them The Museum of Science in Boston. I love how many different interests they can enjoy here (something for…

  • Sesame Place: The Chaos of Fun

So you might say I’m a glutton for punishment, but I love to take my babies to theme parks! This is the first time we’ve gone with all three little ones in tow, but far from the first time the older two have been to a theme park. Most of them are free until they turn 3 which is an added bonus too!  My little man is growing up so fast and I know there’s so much more to come, but he just seems like such a big kid now! He is massively in love with Elmo (he even has an Elmo with a blankey “just like him!”) so we…

  • Flying with 3 Babies (under 2)

So we just returned from our first long distance solo trip since kids and phew… It was the first time we left them for a whole weekend ever so I’ve never been away this far or for this long! Not that they weren’t in good hands – we had about half my extended family watching them – so lots of love and fun, but man did I miss them! And the whole time we were flying I couldn’t get over how little stuff we had on us (like what did I forget?)  its just so weird! Does it ever get any easier?? Anyways, all of this casually arriving at the…

  • Why Did No One Ever Tell Me About Swim Diapers?

Why The Big Secret? Okay. Swim Diapers. Great idea right? Diapers that work in the pool and don’t get gross and weigh your kids down. Awesome! BUT. THEY. DON’T. HOLD. PEE. How is it that this isn’t well distributed information? Like baby 101 “By the way swim diapers don’t hold pee” C’mon Moms! C’mon Dads! Nothing quite like the first hand experience of walking home from the pool and having your kid pee all over you!!! What?!?! Now I change them back to real diapers the second we exit the water – which is a lot of back and forth when you have a toddler who decides he’s done and…
