So for three kids under two and with my background in play therapy you can bet we’ve tried just about every toy on the block! Here is our christmas list for this year although the kids won’t get everything (or many of the things) on this list we made it as a wish/reminder list. I mostly thought I’d share it for those of you stuck on what to get your kids or the kids on your list this year! For those of you looking for a “friend” most of these are good for/ geared toward about 15 months – 4 years as they have lots of potential for growth and expanding activities.

Cooking!

The Melissa and Doug Waffle Maker Set – because we just love making waffles with Daddy on the weekends and this would be great fun to use up all that time between making the batter and when we actually get to eat our waffles! Maybe Dad could even get a chance to sit down and join us before the kids are done!

The Step2 Shopping Cart – Great for our youngest as a little walker, while also engaging our older two in some pretend play. Who doesn’t love going to the store and shopping just like Mommy?

Fresh Fruit Cutting Food Set – We love to help Mommy and Daddy cook & chopping looks so much fun. What a great way to practice our knife skills and build on our fine motor skills!

Books!

If You Give A Pig A Pancake: My middle baby LOVES If You Bring a Mouse to School so this is a nice addition for our library and a great read along for our pancake breakfasts.

If You Give A Mouse A Cookie: Sometimes you gotta have the original, plus who doesn’t love a good cookie? A cute book with some great lessons about responsibility (and just how exhausted your parents are 🙂 ).

Dear Zoo: We actually already have this classic book but the lift and flaps with the little ones tend to need replacing and I LOVE the read and play possibilities of this set with the accompanying animals!

Elmo’s Countdown to Christmas: We LOVE Elmo (and Cookie, and Grover, and the Count and…) and we love when Daddy does any of their voices so this is sure to be a big hit in our house! Plus Santa even grabbed a few mini dolls so this would be a great play and read book! We had a lot of fun doing this years book a day for December so it’d be nice to upgrade some of our very baby Christmas books.

Art!

Crayola Magic Water Paint – A great solution for when you have a little one who loves to mouth EVERYTHING but also loves to paint! Plus a nice gift that we don’t mind bringing over the in-laws house because we know the babes won’t get paint all over their fresh new floors! Water is always a mess I can live with.

Fun!

Thomas: Santa’s Workshop – We have the world’s saddest train table. I mean the train table is awesome but we just have this one figure eight set and a couple of trees. It’s kind of boring. Need some fun trains and more tracks to liven it up and this Christmas set looks so festive and fun!

LLama Llama Red Pajama Doll – This is one of my son’s favorite books that we’ve read so many nights before going to bed! They all love the series and we even recently found the netflix show (during the last bout of stomach bug) that kept everyone much happier! It’s soft, its snuggly and its a house favorite – what’s not to love!

Bristle Blocks – I used to have a set of these for work but lost them at some point when I went on Maternity leave. They are so much fun to build with and great for toddler hands as you don’t have to line them up so perfectly. Plus they have lots of fun shapes and can be turned into some great pretend play. For my sensory loving kids they also make great little brushes without having to spend tons on the actual therapeutic devices.

Moana Baby Doll – While my son started the Moana obsession my daughters jumped right on board and “baby” Moana is a fan favorite. Plus we just love to play with baby dolls wherever we go so this is a great way to enjoy a movie character but build on our pretend play for hours of fun.

The Very Hungry Caterpillar Nesting Blocks – We love The Very Hungry Caterpillar story around here and this is such a fun set! Big nesting blocks are something I used a lot at work with lots of potential and are great for working on problem solving skills. Building, crashing, trying to fit pieces together – plus these are big enough to encourage them to stand up and bend over a gross motor skill we’ve been working on with our youngest!

Beauty and The Beast Duplo Set – We just watched this movie for the first time during our family movie night a few weeks ago and my daughter can’t stop talking about being a princess every-time she wears a dress now. I like to encourage her to enjoy her girly interests but also think duplos allow her a chance to develop her brain power and fine motor skills.

Skill Practice!

Melissa and Doug Primary Lacing Beads –  A great way to work on our fine motor skills and start practicing for all those necklaces I’m sure we’ll make when they are a little bigger, but with no choking risks! I love how easy the chunky beads and wide holes are for toddlers and it’s great to get them started in understanding how laces work. Personally I can’t wait for my kids to do their own shoes!

Cheese Lacing Block – A great way to practice those fine motor skills and we LOVE cheese so this is a fun hit for sure!

Apple Threading Toy – This one goes right along with our love for the Very Hungry Caterpillar book and is a fun game of pretend while they practice their pre-writing skills gripping the worm!

Clothing!

Princess Awesome – Okay I just wanted to throw this out there for all my girl moms trying to find awesome girl clothes (if you didn’t see my gender stereoptying rant). They make fun dresses with cool stuff aka not JUST ruffles on them that we can talk to our girls about, plus girls clothes with real pockets because you know we’re all jealous! Plus they seem like pretty decent people in creating clothes to fit special needs of all different types of girls – just wanted to give them a little shout out!
